As you listen to this mini-sode I’m finishing my first week of study at the Utatlan Spanish School in Quetzaltenango (Xela). You can hear this episode with Maeve McGuinness to hear what she thought about her experience there. Ever since that conversation I’d been thinking about going to find out for myself.

While I was searching for reading material on Guatemala at the Pagosa Springs library I ran across the book Far and Away by Andrew Solomon. He’s a prolific writer who has traveled all throughout the world. I’ll share one of the blurbs from the introduction to that book as I begin to immerse myself in a new culture. Stay tuned…
